Pneumococcal Vaccine Available Now

Pneumococcal bacteria can lead to a range of harmful infections, especially in children and older adults - the pneumococcal vaccine is now available, and is government-funded for eligible patients.


The Australian Immunisation Handbook recommends the pneumococcal vaccine for:

  • infants/children, as part of their routine vaccinations

  • adults over 65 years of age

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 25 years of age

  • anyone with medical conditions that may make them more susceptible to a pneumococcal infection


You may be eligible for a free pneumococcal vaccine through our pharmacy if you are:

  • over 65 years of age

  • Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander and over 25 years of age

  • between 5 and 18 years of age with specific medical conditions*

  • over 18 years of age with specific medical conditions*
